" It is not good enough simply to assume that recording and publishing the data of successfully treated patients is all that needs to concern us ! "

Diagnosis and therapy of insulinoma is simple and straightforward. This should not pose a major problem for the internist and the surgeon experienced in endocrinology. It is an example of interdisciplinary cooperation for the sake of the patient suffering a major health problem.

Due to the rarity of the disease experience is limited to a few centers and institutions who see enough patients in order to provide the expertise. Thus, the patient searching for objective advice may face certain problems.

In times of a professional medical community competing for patients and presence in the media the interest in publications of reduced data ("outcome-analysis") imposes a potential conflict of interest.

It is not our goal, to include another patient into a data bank in order to prove how how good and successful we are. We know, this might accumulate scientific appreciation and ease financial support.

Our goal is always to provide sophisticated care for the patient who needs to be cured from his problem, quickly and without complications. This sometimes requires pedantic handling of the patient, his problems and his "samples", the backbone of physicians' responsibility and ethical conduct.

" We do not want to change this world, although the world tries hard to change us "
